Could sharing help with the cost of care?

Shared Care makes it possible for compatible people to share a home and aspects of their care. It depends on finding a suitable match, so you may need to wait. Each person’s needs, routines and preferences come first.

One enquiry. More possibilities.

You can tell us whether you would consider sharing as part of the normal Find Care enquiry. Saying no does not affect your request for help finding conventional care.

What sharing could look like

Imagine Sarah, who needs support and has a spare bedroom, and Emma, who needs support and would welcome living with someone else. If their needs, routines and preferences are compatible, they could explore sharing Sarah’s home and suitable care support, with an individual plan for each person. This is an illustrative scenario, not a customer case study or an available placement.

Compare the whole cost

Sharing a home does not automatically halve the care bill. Compare each person’s proposed care costs, accommodation, household bills and any extra individual support with their current arrangement. A meaningful saving needs a personalised assessment and written costs for both options.

A potential Host

Someone needing care who has a suitable spare bedroom and could consider another person moving into their home. Space alone is not enough: circumstances and compatibility need careful discussion.

A potential Sharer

Someone needing care who could consider moving into another person’s home and sharing aspects of care. There is no need to decide now; you can ask to learn more.

A conversation, not a commitment

We initially explore interest by telephone. Expressing interest does not create a profile, reserve a place or enter an agreement. We are not currently offering automated matching or guaranteeing availability, compatibility or savings.
